FUNCTIONAL INTERGRATIVE NUTRITIONAL EVALUATION

If you surf this website, you will find different programs offered to rate your present state of health. There are 4 levels offered. The 1st is the BASIC. What this entails is answering 200+ questions. If you are honest and find that you have very few 2’s, 3’s and yeses …. there will be no need to continue reading this article, but, if you are like most surveyed, you will have many of each. What does this mean? Experience states, your body is in a state of imbalance / disharmony and symptoms are a way of pointing it out. The 1st place a “functional practitioner “, would examine, would be diet and nutritional deficiencies. A simple “google” of any number of vitamins, minerals, fats and proteins which are deficient in the body, would indicate any or all the symptoms you may have.

Let’s break it down further. It is estimated we have over 10 trillion cells in our bodies, and better yet, over 100 trillion microbes consisting of bacteria, viruses, yeast and fungi. That ratio usually freaks people out, but as we will see, it’s all about keeping that ecology balanced to be healthy. It is estimated, each second of your life, there are 63 trillion biochemical reactions taking place. Each day of your life, depending on your age, you will lose 1 billion cells, but with proper health, you will make a billion. Youth has its privileges, but the older we get the less efficient this system works, but here’s the catch. For any of this to happen, you MUST have ample amounts of healthy fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals.

Most people, with a surprised “look on their faces”, would state ….” but I eat healthy”, wouldn’t that mean I’m getting all I need? But most people have no clue about what a healthy diet is, but EVEN if we did, we are ALL coming up on the short side of the stick. Further explanation needed? There are so many studies published and cited. As an example, I’ll use original research from biochemist Donald Davis, from the University of Texas. In his research paper ….” Changes in USDA food composition data crops, 1950-1999.” Evidence continues to accumulate about our industrial food system. We are not being served well, when it comes to the nutrient value of food. True, American agribusiness has given us one of the cheapest food supplies in the world, but science reveals this food is “Cheap” in more ways than one. Here are some of the things we know, at this point. Over the last 50 years, the amounts of protein, vitamins and minerals have declined by 50%. This is determined by doing nutrient density testing, not only on the end product itself, but testing on the soils. Reasons: Changing in modern fertilization strips nutrients from the soil. Not rotating crops and letting the soil rest. Genetically altering, (GMO’S ), foods have shown declining nutrient values. GMO’s may give us higher

yields, but at a high cost to our health. Processing, where do I begin? Today, our processed foods don’t resemble anything from their original intention. Ingredients used to be “pronounceable”. Things began to change in the 1950’s, when the idea of shortcuts and faster foods became the norm. Nearly 80% of all processed foods in the U.S. contain genetically modified ingredients. They’re full of artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners. They are stabilized with trans fats and chemical preservatives. Shelf life, junk food. Families used to sit and have “family dinners”, consisting of food grow in backyards or from “organic farms “. We didn’t even know they were organic. Yikes, I must stop. My mind is starting to boggle. The bottom line, we are not getting foods and nutrient density that nature had intended for us and we are paying a huge price.

Remember, at the beginning of this article? The trillions of cells and the trillions of biochemical reactions. These ALL function properly or improperly based on our diets and nutrient densities. Until we get to healthier food sources, the age of “Proper Supplementation” is here. Yikes, that opens up another “Pandora’s” Box”. Not all supplementation is created equally – not even close.
